Nowhere.
That's right. Absolutely nowhere.
After years of pointing to this season as the year for big deals and big trades and free-agent signings, the Kings find themselves in possibly worse position than they were a year ago.
They have no point guard. In fact, they have nobody with even an inkling of how to distribute.
They have no shot blocker,
They have no small forward. At least no small forward that can take the team to the next level. John Salmons? Please. Still one of the worst transactions in recent NBA history.
So what to do now?
Well, there's only one thing you can do.
TRADE TYREKE EVANS.
Trade him today. Before he turns his next ankle. Before he bullrushes into the lane again to throw up another ill-advised runner. Before he ignores his teammates on fast breaks. Before people in the league begin to figure out he's not really as good as his rookie hype.
Get me a point guard with skills. Someone who can set up Jimmer and Thornton. Get me a big man who will have opponents thinking twice in the lane.
Here's one target: How about Rajon Rondo of the Celtics. Boston has been trying to move him for the last month. He'd be perfect for the Kings.
This team, as currently constructed, is headed for disaster. In fact, I have no idea what Geoff Petrie is thinking. Even in the land of the Timberwolves, they have assembled a team that actually makes sense. Love. Rubio. Johnson. That's a nice foundation. The pieces are beginning to come together.
Here, in the land of the Kings, Petrie has put together a no-defense team of chuckers.
It's sad, really.
And I don't expect it to get much better.
Unless, of course, I hear some juicy Tyreke rumors.

If Evans is as bad as you make him out to be, then why on earth would any team trade a point guard or a defensive big man for him? As far as your whining about the teams defense, Evans is far and away the best that this team has. He is not a classic point guard by any stretch of the imagination, but his combination of size, scoring, defense, and rebounding are something that very, very few players in this league today are capable of producing.
Evans is not a great defensive player. He is not quick enough to stay in front of most NBA guards. As for why would a team trade for him? I'm naive enough to believe somebody in the league still thinks he has a big upside.
Ron, you write the truth once again. I hate selfish basketball and Tyreke is the most selfish of all.
Evans is not a PG and never will be, at least not a good one. Sadly many Kings fans believe and repeat the Kings hype about Evans size etc and it doesn't matter who starts the offense. Other than driving to the basket, Evans has no consistent offensive ability. Though the Kings say he is a good defender, I've never seen it. I don't know what the salary issues are. But, since neither has a jump shot, with the offensive talent the Kings have, I would welcome a trade for a Rondo, a true diistributor.
Could not agree with you more. It is a JOY to see I am not the only one who is not buying all this ridiculous Kings hype. I just found your blog but you can bet I'll be back. Love your views. Check me out some time : sactownlove.com
Thanks, Flo... appreciate the kind words
Couldnt have said it better myself. Last night I was kicked off "Sactown Royalty" for saying that the team needs a true point guard. So many fans have bought the hype on this guy that fools like the guys at STR wont even allow posts saying he should be traded. I would like to see a trade for someone like R.Sessions from Cle, as they need a sg and Irving will be getting big mins at the PG.
Sactown Royalty? They don't like me very much. Tyreke's game has not improved in 3 years. Zero court vision.
From what I've seen of Jimmer so far, i think he can be the PG the Kings need. He already sees the floor better than anyone else on the team. Make Jimmer the PG and trade for a dynamic small forward like Danny Granger or Andre Iguodala.
